History of Rivers, Streams and Lakes

With one of Texas' major rivers, the Brazos, as its eastern boundary, Milam County's history can be viewed through the history of its water resources. According to the Texas Handbook Online (THO), Little River drainage area covers 7,560 square miles. In Texas, availability of water was as much a prerequisite for early settlers as it is today.
