Milam County is a major cross-road for travel in Texas. Major highways include:
TX 36 - From North to South: Enters Milam County South of Rogers, passes through Buckholts, Cameron and exist Milam County South of Milano on the way to Caldwell.
US 190 - From West to East: Together with TX 36, enters Milam County East of Rogers, passes through Buckholts, Cameron and Milano, exiting East of Milano on the way to Hearne.
US 77 - From North to South: Enters Milam County South of Rosebud, passes through Burlington, Ben Arnold, Cameron and passes just East of Rockdale, leaving Milam County on the way to Lexington
US 79 - From South to North: Enters Milam County at Thorndale, passes through Rockdale, Milano and Gause, and exits North of Gause on the way to Hearne.

Several projects to improve Milam County highways are either underway or in the planning stages. Milam County is part of the Bryan District of the Texas Department of Transportation. The principal projects are:
Widening of Texas 36 from East of the Bell County line to South of Milano. This will become a four lanes separated by a median.
A northern by-pass to relieve congestion on US 79 and widening to four lanes with a median from US 77, east of Rockdale, to Hearn.
