The Brazos at FM-485 was running full banks in early March 2001. Heavy rains sent a lot of Milam County top soil on its way to the Gulf.

There are several old facilities at this point in the river, which is just downriver from Port Sullivan. In the picture to the right, the remnants of what may have been a lock can be seen. Below are stair leading down to the river. Obviously the destination is currently under water.

To the right are several of the Alligator Gar caught by Mr. Perez on a rod and reel in May and June. He said they put up a pretty good fight and that it would take around 30 minutes to land one of these. According to Mrs. Perez, fish this size have nice fillets which her family enjoys. These are just the skins that are hung to dry around the Perez family home in Sharp.
